You can narrow the list by sale or rent, by bedrooms and bathrooms, by size in square metres, by whether the house is furnished, semi-furnished or unfurnished, by parking, by property condition - newly-built, off-plan, under construction, renovated, fairly used or old - and by district or town.

House prices in Rwanda vary widely for the same floor area, so it helps to know what to compare. Check bedrooms and bathrooms against the built area rather than the plot size, since a large plot does not always mean a large house. Uncompleted and under-construction houses are cheaper than finished ones but need budget and time to complete, so ask what is still outstanding and get the handover date in writing. Check whether water and electricity are connected and what road access is like in the rainy season. For rentals, confirm whether rent is quoted monthly or yearly, what deposit is required, and whether water, electricity or security are included.
