Size alone does not tell you much, so check the resolution as well - a large screen at a low resolution will look worse than a smaller sharp one. If the monitor is for a laptop, check which ports it has and which your laptop has, since an adapter is an extra cost and not all adapters carry the full resolution. Ask whether the stand, power cable and video cable are included, since second-hand monitors are often sold without them. On any used screen, ask the seller to display a plain white and a plain black image so you can see dead pixels, backlight bleed or discoloured patches.
