Rental listings are quoted in different ways, so confirm the terms before you commit. Ask whether the price is per day, per week or per month, and whether it includes a driver or is self-drive, since the two are priced very differently. Check the fuel policy, whether there is a daily distance limit, and what happens if you keep the car longer than agreed. Ask what deposit is required and how it comes back to you. Confirm the car is insured for the use you intend and, if you plan to cross a border, whether that is allowed at all. Photograph the car with the owner before you drive away and again when you return it.
